4 Paws 4 Life Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs from overpopulated, high-kill shelters and contributing to achieving a no-kill nation. We work with committed volunteers, local veterinarians, trainers, boarding facilities, shelters and other rescue partners to save dogs each year by:

Partnering with like-minded organizations to achieve a common goal of saving animals.
Providing dogs with temporary care through our foster programs and/or boarding facilities.
Ensuring they receive medical care using our local veterinarian services.
Ensuring successful placements using our application and interview processes.
Finding them loving homes during our weekly adoption events program.
Educating adopters and the general public on responsible pet care and relationships.
Hiring trainers, when necessary, to assist with behavioral issues.

We believe every dog deserves a long, happy and healthy life.

We believe in our community.

We believe in a no-kill nation.

Our Heart to Heart program is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the adoption and treatment of heartworm positive dogs.
Heartworm is not contagious from dog to dog and is a very treatable condition. After only a few short months of treatment dogs can be cured and live a long, healthy, and active life.
The biggest obstacles are cost and education. 4 Paws 4 Life is dedicated to saving as many of these otherwise healthy and wonderful dogs as we can.
Treatment is very expensive for a small non-profit, and we are therefore limited in the number of dogs we are able to treat and save. The full cost of treatment can range anywhere from $500-$1000.
In many shelters, testing positive for heartworms is a death sentence. We believe that every dog deserves a chance at life, and therefore we are one of only a few rescues in Colorado who will save heartworm positive dogs. Even small donations can add up and go a long way towards helping us save even more dogs.

Hop-along, now known as Luna was the victim of a car crash in rural New Mexico. A Citizen brought her to the shelter for treatment and x-rays. It was found that she had a broken leg from the accident but the shelter did not have the resources to help her fully recover. 4 Paws 4 Life was able to bring Luna safely to Colorado so she could receive surgery on her leg and loving recuperation in her foster home. She is now well loved and thriving in her forever home who sent us this post adoption update:

“Miss Luna is doing really well! She is so special, isn’t she!?!
She goes on jogs in each morning with me, we have been working up to some running. her wounds and stitches are healed up and well so we have been working in the water to help her engage her back leg. Especially walking up stream in the creek so she has to bear some weight to pull that leg forward. Luna doesn’t take any more pain meds (as she has not expressed a need for any relief!)"
