The Doreen Katz Memorial Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to helping children whose parents are battling cancer.
Working with the many hospitals located in the Metro Denver Area, the Foundation helps the children when their parents are diagnosed with any form of cancer. This help is in the form of grants for education and general support.

The foundation focuses on children that have a parent fighting any form of cancer. Currently, 5 Million children in the US are faced with this situation and our K-12 Continuation Program makes sure that these children can still do anything they want during the school day. Fees are now being charged directly to families for advanced placement classes, field trips, full day kindergarten, lab fees, art class and many more. We make sure that the children can take all of these classes. In addition, we have a network of therapists with us so that every family gets their own assigned therapist to work with the children to help them understand the diagnosis and provide a voice outside of the home.

The foundation exists because our Executive Director lost his wife, Doreen, to a battle with breast cancer. Part of his healing process was discovering a huge need in the cancer community that was going unfulfilled and he came up with a great solution to help the 5 million children in the US that have a parent fighting any form of cancer and being in danger of missing out on a complete education.
The foundation collaborates with several other groups to offer the best therapy for the families to include Equine Assisted Therapy, Dance and Movement Therapy, Music Therapy and Art Therapy.

Our biggest challenge is that our Executive Director is the organization, so we need volunteers up and down the organization to help us grow and help more families.

Funding Needs
Fees now being charged to families can add up to $3,000 per year per child. Families facing cancer treatments cannot afford these fees. That is where our program comes in.
In addition, we need to hire staff to be able to allow our Executive Director to grow the business to be that national foundation for the 3 million children. That needs to start with a Development professional.
